Abstract
The purpose of this clinical study was to evaluate the cleaning abilities of toothpaste containing sodium bicarbonate and calcium peroxide. One group of subjests(n=18) brushed with the toothpaste containing sodium bicarbonate and calcium peroxide. The second group(n=18) brushed with control dentifrice which had the same formulation with experimental dentifrice except it did not contain sodium bicarbonate and calcium peroxide. The duration of the study was one month. Tooth shade was scored 3 times : before deviding group, after 2 weeks of use of each dentifrice, after 4 weeks of use of each dentifrice. Bioform shde guide was used to score the tooth shade.The obtained results were as follows:
1. Sodium bicarbonate and calcium peroxide dentifrice had a non-significant cleaning effect upon tooth surfaces as observed by an increase in tooth whiteness after 2 weeks(p>0.05).
2. Sodium bicarbonate and calcium peroxide dentifrice had a significant cleaning effect upon tooth surfaces as observed´ by an increase in tooth whiteness after 4 weeks(p<0.05).
